Attorney Mark C. Menser of Viles & Beckman, LLC Designated “Chairman-Elect” of the Atla Republican C

Fort Myers, FL – Viles & Beckman, LLC Attorney Mark C. Menser was recently in Toronto, Canada representing the “local law firm with a national reputation” at the national Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA). During the national convention, Mr. Menser was honored with the appointment of “Chairman-Elect” to the ATLA Republican Caucus, a new division of ATLA designed to petition Republican elected officials about the dangers of tort reform legislation.

This was a tremendous honor for both Mr. Menser and the Viles & Beckman, LLC law firm to which he has handled appellate and research projects for the firm since February, 2000. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Menser worked for the Florida Attorney General’s Office for 19 years, from 1981 to February of 2000. He is an expert in constitutional and appellate law with extensive experience in the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Florida Supreme Court, and all of Florida’s District Courts of Appeals.

Tort reform legislation is an issue that has achieved a great deal of debate since 2000, specifically concerning medical malpractice and the rising cost of medical liability insurance health care premiums. Most attorneys maintain that the settlement cap placed on medical monetary malpractice awards make it unfeasible for many highly experienced and qualified attorneys to litigate potential cases, yielding a stronger vantage point to insurance companies on malpractice litigation outcomes.

Next year, Mr. Menser automatically assumes the role of National Chairman of the Caucus. Although he supports ATLA’s efforts to reach out to Republican officials on tort reform legislation, he contends that “access to the justice system is not a partisan issue.”
